Eligibility Criteria for NEET UG 2026

To be eligible for NEET 2026, students must meet the following criteria.

Educational Qualifications

Students must have passed or appearing Class 12th Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.

• Minimum percentage for General Category : 50%
• Minimum Percentage for EWS/PwBD: 45%

Important Instructions

• The NEET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in offline mode using pen and paper.
• The paper will have 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions.
• Physics will carry 45 questions, Chemistry will carry 45 questions, and Biology will carry 90 questions.
• The total marks for the exam will be 720.
• The exam duration will be 3 hours (180 minutes), from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (IST).
• Each correct answer will give +4 marks, while each wrong answer will deduct 1 mark.
• No marks will be awarded for unanswered questions.
• The question paper will be available in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
• Biology will have the highest weightage with 360 marks, making it the most important subject.

• Visit portal: Go to neet.nta.nic.in and click New Registration.
• Read instructions: Scroll through guidelines and click Proceed.
• Enter basic details:
  • Name, father’s name, mother’s name (as per Class 10 certificate)
  • Date of birth, gender
  • Identification type & number (Aadhaar/Passport/School ID, etc.)
  • Mobile number & email (your own, not coaching/agent)
• Create password & security pin:
  • Password policy: 8–13 characters, at least one uppercase, one lowercase, one digit, one special character.
• Note your credentials:

5. Pay the application fee
