CBSE Class X Second Board Exam 2026 – Key Rules
First Exam is Compulsory: Every student must appear in the first board examination. Missing it is not allowed under any circumstances.
Improvement Option: Students who pass the first exam can reappear in the second exam for up to three subjects (Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages).
Essential Repeat Category: Students absent in three or more subjects during the first exam will be placed in the Essential Repeat category. They must reappear in the main exam next year (February 2027).
Compartment Cases: Students who fall under the Compartment category in the first exam can reappear in the second exam under the same category.
No Additional Subjects: After passing Class X, students cannot opt for stand-alone or additional subjects
